# FEM Linking

> Link Tier 1 FEM assessments to purchase orders for Scope 3 impact calculation.

FEM linking allows you to connect Tier 1 Facility Environmental Module (FEM) assessments to your purchase orders. When a purchase order is linked to a verified FEM, Worldly uses the facility-specific environmental data to calculate more accurate Scope 3 impacts instead of relying on industry averages.

## How it works

1. Your Tier 1 supplier completes and shares a [FEM assessment](/data-dictionary/fem) with your Worldly account.
2. Use the [Search Tier 1 Facilities](/api-reference/pic/fem-linking/search-facilities) endpoint to find the shared FEM.
3. When [creating](/api-reference/pic/purchase-orders/create) or [updating](/api-reference/pic/purchase-orders/update) a purchase order, include the FEM assessment ID in the `purchaseOrder.assembly.femId` field.
4. [Recalculate](/api-reference/pic/purchase-orders/recalculate) the purchase order to generate Scope 3 impacts using facility-specific data.
